The mantion of the merchant Filippov

Staritsa, st. Lenin, 18

The mantion of the merchant Filippov stands on the main street of the city. In Staritsa they are convinced that it was this house that the merchant Filippov granted for balls in January 1829, when Alexander Pushkin came to see Alexey Wulf at the Staritsa. Here he danced with the daughter of the Staritsa district police officer Katenka Veliasheva, was charmed with her and later wrote a poem "Approaching the Izhora...".
