In 1820 in the center of the New hillfort the new Boris and Gleb Cathedral under the project of Luigi Rusca was built in the mean forms of late Classicism. Its free-standing bell tower with the Church of the Holy Savior's Image (1827) in the lower tier was built according to the design of the Staritsa architect M. Chernyatin.
