Church in honor and in memory of the Tver heavenly patron, the Grand Prince of Tver and Vladimir, the most Orthodox Prince St. Mikhail Yaroslavich of Tver (1271-1318) was built in Vladimir-Suzdal style on the Island of Memory (where T’maka inflows into the Volga) under project of Tver architects V. V. Kurochkin and A. Y. Barkovsky in 2002. The stone building revived in Tver (Transfiguration Cathedral was built) under the rule of Prince Mikhail; Tver became the capital of one of the most powerful principalities in the North-Eastern Rus.
